The same is true of websites. Of course, we now know websites extend the reach of a business. But it took time to realize how powerful websites would be. Websites broke down barriers.
Both are considered world changing technologies.
Social media – the changing landscape of the web
Social media is the same story. And most people now understand that, like email and websites, social media is becoming a staple in business and in life. Social media changes how we connect and interact.
Social media connects people and brands. It allows companies to become more responsive to their customers and it empowers consumers to interact with the companies they like. It gives new meaning to being a brand ambassador.
For brands, social media is collapsing communication barriers that once allowed controlled messages to come through. Instead, it is allowing the message to simply find its way through the noise.
Individually, social media presents a challenge in filtering out noise and finding what is real. It allows us to feel the joy and fulfillment of being able to interact and connect with other people at an unprecedented level and immediacy.
We have yet to see the true impact of social media. It’s a vast world and it’s far reaching. It’s like asking “are we there yet?” on a road trip. We won’t know until we get there, but we’re not there yet.
